There are two "benches" located at the entrance of the East Lawrence Recreation Center, just west of 15th and Haskell. These mosaic works have somewhat of an urban feel and address both the present and the future of Lawrence youth, in a hopeful manner.

The bench to the north portrays an artist/conductor. Its intent may be of preserving and improving the landscape of the community, while the bench to the south ventures into the world of becoming. With a dancer, an engineer, and a basketball player laying a globe into the hoop with a galactic backdrop, it seems to ask the question, "What will you become?"
