Bounnak has a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Sculpture emphasis, from the University of Northern Iowa, 2003; He is currently obtaining a Master of Arts degree with Sculpture emphasis. He is currently Assistant Fabricator for Tom Stancliffe and Marc Moulton.

“I believe nothing in life exists as a singularity in itself. My innate obsessions are the significant percentage of objects and concepts that exist in pairs.”

“Currently, conveying the specific meaning of my work isn’t as important to me as its simple visual impact; its “aesthetic significance.” My artwork is a derivative visual language inspired by my Asian-American heritage.“

“Along the Road in Laos was derived from Laotian Temple architecture and Lotus blossoms. Its compliment is “Along the Road in Iowa” was derived from Iowan agrarian architecture. Together the two convey the disparate beauty of two forms of agrarian life: subsistence and industrial.”
