“This galvanized steel sculpture
visually plays with the concept of how things are created
equal. With its large fragmented saw blades, it strikes
a harsh tone.However, above (on top of the sculpture) is
a flag with an equal sign that seems to gently blow in
the wind. What is your manner of equalizing things in your
life?”
Leslie Bruning was born in Syracuse,
Kansas and raised in Nebraska. After studying at Graz Center
in Austria, he graduated with a B.A. in art from Nebraska
Wesleyan University. In 1970, he was awarded an M.F.A.
in sculpture from Syracuse University. He is
currently Chair of the Art Area of Bellevue University,
Bellevue, Nebraska and a founding member of the Market
North Hot Shops Art Center, Omaha, Nebraska. His studio
is a casting and fabrication studio to produce architectural
detail and other artists’ work. |
