“‘Prairie Focus’ began
in bits and pieces. While working on another piece of sculpture
at Central Industrial Sheet Metal, Inc. in Kansas City,
I noticed several pieces of iron left over from industrial
projects. I was especially drawn to the piece with circles
cut in neat patterns. I found other circles of different
sizes and began assembling them into what seemed like a
pleasing composition. It seemed to me that the circles
acted as windows to focus on what was seen on the other
side.”
